Tikkurila’s new water-borne products, Akvi Top 30 FD and Akvi Primer MDF, are user-friendly and more environmentally compliant. They are ideal for the surface treatment of doors, panels and mouldings, and other wooden surfaces and boards.
Akvi Primer MDF is a fast drying, acrylate primer
designed for priming MDF. However, it is also suitable for other wooden
surfaces, such as plywood. Akvi Primer MDF is user-friendly, easy to sand and,
as a one-component primer, does not require viscosity adjustments. This primer
is ideal for spraying.
Akvi Top 30 FD is an acrylate-based topcoat, which
has excellent properties with regard to stacking, chemical resistance and
drying. It can be used on painting lines and is also easy to spray using
conventional or airless spraying. The topcoat is ready to use and does not require
viscosity adjustments. Akvi Top 30 FD is
tintable in Temaspeed Fonte tinting system in FAL base paint.
Application and compatibility of products
Akvi Primer MDF is a primer designed for interior
fixtures, doors, mouldings and other wooden surfaces. Catalysed-based products of
the Diccoplast or Dicco Astral 35 series are recommended as topcoats for this
primer. In addition, the water-borne UV-curing topcoats Luminol 25 and Luminol
40 N provide an excellent finish when applied on top of Akvi Primer MDF.
Akvi Top 30 FD can be used as a topcoat for finishing
interior doors, panels, mouldings and other wooden surfaces and boards. Primers
recommended for use with Akvi Top 30 FD are: Akvi Primer MDF, Diccoplast Primer
or Dicco Surf Primer.
Reduced solvent emissions
Using Tikkurila’s water-borne paints, at least as
part of the painting process, will help reduce VOC emissions and improve
working and living environments. The Akvi Top 30 FD topcoat in particular has a
considerably low VOC content.
